summer

It’s finally here…the first day of summer. Its arrival, yet again, has presented itself at the most opportune time. My responsibilities at work have been put on hold leaving plenty of time for me to do the things that I enjoy most: indulge in long days filled with relaxation and the sweet sound of birds chirping outside my window as they dart from one bird feeder to the next. I am flooded with thoughts of children running through sprinklers, melting ice cream cones and sticky hands, evening heat lightning, sizzles from burgers on the grill, fireflies in mason jars, and tiny raindrops sprinkled on the porch from the unpredictability of summer showers. The possibilities are endless and the memories of childhood remain in the forefront of my mind.

Another arrival that I am eager to welcome today is one that will make me an auntie once more. Baby Emery Rachel has made her way into the world at 6 pounds, 13 ounces, and with a head full of hair. Yet another reason for us to dust off those childhood memories and welcome them back to where they most likely began…summer days.

Congrats Auntie! The Stewart’s Root Beer picture is priceless. It reminds of everything great about the summer. I think I’m going to kick back and have a root beer today. I can’t wait to see the next blog entry.

Heidi, I love the pic of Aunt Mick’s potting shed. It appears you are moving along quite nicely with your photography. It also seems you are inspired by the unique.

    Loving you always,

The quilt is awesome! It’s a perfect match for Emery’s room decor. How did you know her color scheme? It must have been a sixth sense!
